Vlychadia beach is ideal for scuba diving and spear-fishing

If you’re looking for a beach in Kalymnos that can give you a full day while being part of a self-contained community, and not too far from civilization, the beach at Vlychadia is a good choice. Vlychadia lies just six kilometres southwest of the main port of Pothia.

To get there, drive along the main road until you get to the village of Vothini, then take the narrow zigzag road between the hills to Vlychadia. The beach is large and sandy, which means that in the height of summer it can get rather crowded. On the other hand, there are a number of good fish tavernas serving fresh fish just off the boats drawn up on the east side of the beach. The seabed is rich in flora and fauna, which makes Vlychadia ideal for scuba diving and spear-fishing.
