Agia Pelagia beach is for those who seek calm waters and a laid back atmosphere

About 21 Km west of Heraklion, one can visit the beach of Agia Pelagia. It is a narrow sandy beach with sunbeds and umbrellas. The waters are shallow and the beach is often crowded probably because this bay is protected from the wave-creating north winds, and the sea is almost always serene.

On the weekends, many people from Heraklion find refuge on its sandy shores for a cooling dip in the azure waters. There are many accommodation choices, including villas to rent, taverns and restaurants, ATM’s and super markets, all of them located within walking distance of the main beach of Agia Pelagia.

There is no intense night life here. There is, of course, a good selection of bars and cafes to enjoy your favourite drink, but Agia Pelagia is mainly for people interested in calm, relaxing sea-side holidays. Make sure that you take a walk to Psaroumoura beach, which is a small distance away.
