Kamari beach with its black magical sand, attracts tourists like a magnet

Kamari beach, sitting about 4 miles southeast of Fira on the island’s east coast, is extremely popular with tourists. This stretch of powdery black sand, the largest in Santorini, is fully organized -with umbrellas and sun beds galore- and has everything to offer to holidaymakers, from every conceivable water activity to a wide variety of eating and entertainment for every taste and budget.

The beach is lined by numerous bars, cafés, eateries, night clubs, and shops, as well as the resort’s traditional whitewashed houses There are also mini-markets and bakeries, ATMs, travel agencies and a medical center.

Keep in mind that because Kamari is so easily accessible and with so many amenities, you won’t find the peace and quiet here that you would at other beaches like the Red Beach in Akrotiri. In order to secure a good sunbathing spot, plan to get here early.  Keep in mind that in Kamari there are great options for villas to rent, offering highend amenities.
