Palionisos beach lies in a splendid fjord-like bay not far from Emporio

Palionisos beach is a small and pebbly beach hidden deep inside a sheltered cove on the north side of Kalymnos, not far from the village of Emporio. It lies in a long, very beautiful fjord-like bay just below a village topped by a small church that offers a view of the island of Leros to the north.

The only way to get to Palionisos beach is by car, or motorbike, as there’s no public transportation, and a taxi from the main port of Pothia will be expensive. Palionisos beach is at the end of a gravel road that turns off from the main road between Pothia and Emborio, about 20 kilometres from the port. You won’t find much in the way of sunbeds or umbrellas, but just up the path in the adjacent village there’s adequate food and drink when you need it.
