How to find your starting block in the Athens Authentic Marathon

So you have reached the start line! Be ready to take your place at the start blocks, not later than 8:45 a.m. and make sure you have strapped the timing chip on your shoelace. The block that you belong to is displayed on your bib number. The color of your number will help you find the entrance that is at the back of every block. Don’t change blocks deliberately, since in this case you will not find your name in the final results.

It is very wise to follow the instructions of the volunteers. The wave starts will help you run with ease, avoid the crowds at the beginning of the race and get served properly at the water stations. Your running effort will be fully supported at the 15 water stations alongside the route.

There will be water stations from the 5th km onwards and at every 2.5 km, according to the IAAF regulations. Water will be offered at all stations while isotonic drinks plus other supplies will be offered at every 5 km. There will be additional electronic timing mats at certain intermediate points of the route, namely the 5th km, the 10 th km, the 21.1 km and the 30th km.
