Discover four centuries of Jewish life in Greece in one museum
More than four centuries of the life of the vibrant Jewish communities in Greece are presented in the Jewish Museum of Athens, located very close to the Syntagma metro station. It has objects salvaged from WW II, artefacts, documents and manuscripts from the 19th and 20th centuries.

Thanks to the interest of many individuals and contributions from all Jewish communities in Greece, the collection is now enriched with rare books and publications, textiles, jewellery, domestic and religious artefacts. Of special interest is its photographic archive which includes a large number of photographs that cover all aspects of Jewish life and tradition in Greece.
The photographic material consists of original black-and-white photographs, printed copies of original pictures, colour photographs and slides. The Jewish Museum also houses a library with approximately 3,500 titles, classified in 31 categories. It is open Monday to Friday from 9:00 to 14:30, Sundays from 10:00 to 14:00, and is closed on Saturdays.
