The beach of Triopetra is a beautiful, quietly, long and wide sandy beach at about 52 km south of Rethymnon and easily accessible by car.
If you would like to enjoy the sun you can rent sunbeds and umbrellas there. Moreover, you can find a few taverns right on the beach for traditional food and drink.
In between Triopetra beach and Agios Pavlos beach there are more small, peaceful coves with sandy beaches, where you can be on your own and have relaxing time.

3. Maliou Riaki Beach
Have you ever seen a seal Monachus monachus?
Tou Maliou to Riaki beach is a picturesque beach with impressive rock formations. It is located 15km east of Rethymnon city, in an isolated area, just a few kilometers east of Skaleta and west of Geropotamos.
It is quite unknown to visitors and locals, although it is very close to the main road that connects Heraklion to Rethymno.
There you can find umbrellas, sunbeds and a small canteen for a snack.
If you are lucky you could see the endangered Mediterranean seal Monachus monachus which finds shelter in cavities of the beach.

4. Preveli Beach

Preveli beach is located about 35km south of Rethymno and 10km east of Plakias. The beach of Preveli, also known as Lake Preveli or Phoenix, is located at the exit of the imposing Kourtaliotikos Gorge, where the river Megas Potamos is flowing. Also, it is accessible by car or small boat from nearing villages.
It is the most famous and visited beach in southern Crete, due to its beauties and its clear waters.

5. Damnoni Beach

Damnoni is located 35km south of Rethymno and 5km east of Plakias. It is an attractive tourist resort, very well developed and organized.
